On Thursday, the school held its annual career day inside of the gym. 26 adults with different professions to talk about their jobs. The insights of occupations that were shared varied in sectors from entertainment to education to public service and more.
Students in the building were called down from their classes to be offered the chance to meet with some of these people and learn from their experiences.
Baruchians, along with a map of where professionals were stationed, were given prompts for them to go off in case they were unsure what to ask the visitors. One of these questions was what the adults enjoyed about their job.
Specialist Melina Jackson, who works in the NYPD, was one person students talked to.
“I like the benefits of the job, the security and the paycheck,” she said, laughing.
Jessica Benson-Roberts, the vice president of exhibitor relations for Screenvision Media, occupied a different table.
“It’s been so fun,” she said. “I really love what I do. I was here last year, and since I had to come back this year, I had my husband come as well.”
Adam Roberts, her husband, is a musician and also talked to some students about his career. One of these students was junior Jedediah Park who said he’s very passionate about music.
“I talked to Adam Roberts, and we talked about his experience in the industry, what he does and did, and other things about him,” he said. “I enjoyed my conversation with Adam which ended up lasting the whole period.”
