‘Tis the season to watch holiday movies, fa la la la – lalala! All jokes aside, Many can agree holiday movies hold a special place in everyone’s heart. From Home Alone to Elf to Eight Crazy Nights, Baruchians share what they think the best holiday movie is.
Junior, Victoria Kozdra, said her favorite movie is Home Alone. “It’s a classic and you can honestly never go wrong with it. Plus it’s funny and heartwarming. When the old guy Kevin thought was suspicious ended up saving him by hitting one of the robbers in the head made me tear up a little,” she said.
Sophomore, Katie Caba, shares her niche opinion.
“It’s not really a movie, but my favorite holiday series is Dash & Lily on Netflix. Home Alone is nostalgic and all, but personally I lean towards the more romantic genres around the holiday season. There’s just something about watching people fall in love around the holiday season that makes me feel all fuzzy and warm,” Caba said.
Junior, Hannah Lowe, said her favorite holiday movie is Mistletoe & Menorahs; a romance movie that includes both Christmas and Hanukkah.
“I haven’t watched this in forever, but it hits every time. I’m not the biggest fan of the other Hanukkah movies, but this one was actually good. From the Hanukkah movies I’ve watched, this one wasn’t corny and didn’t look cheap,” she said.
Kozdra shares another holiday movie that she watches yearly.
“Love, Actually is really good. I watched it with one of my friends out of boredom, but it turned out to be one of the best holiday movies I’ve ever watched. It reminds me of Valentines Day —which is one of my favorite movies— but the Christmas version. And I love Christmas and romance movies, so I think the combination of both makes it so much better,” she said.
Baruchians can agree that the winter holiday takes the victory with the coziest lineup of comfort movies. Whether it’s rewatching the classics, discovering hidden gems or even reliving the nostalgia of an old film, there’s something special about curling up and letting the season’s spirit unfold on screen. So grab your hot chocolate, settle in and let the radiance of the holidays (and movies) make the season unforgettable.
Happy Holidays Baruch!
