Liz Grove has been working at Baruch since 2022, however, she’s not your typical school teacher, so what is her role at Baruch?
Liz Grove, or Ms. Grove to Baruch students, is the parent coordinator here at Baruch.
“I’m the parent coordinator…I help parents connect with the school. I do a lot of communication with the parents, I do the weekly newsletter as a major way to communicate with parents, I also do the website and my unofficial role is helping out with events” Grove said.
Grove is incredibly fond of the students and her job at Baruch as she said “I love working with the kids, I like working with the parents too, but I like doing events…so I brought that into my role here, I like doing events, and I like bringing fun into the school.”
Despite loving her job as the parent coordinator, her favorite part of her role at Baruch is helping plan events throughout the year with the Barch Events Committee (B.E.C).
“I really like doing events. I have a strong PTA background…and one of the things I did there was events and so I brought that into the role here and I really really like that part,” she said.
Grove really enjoys event planning and bringing fun gatherings, dances and events into the school, her role in B.E.C is part of what makes Baruch’s community so strong.
However, despite playing a crucial role at Baruch she also has hobbies, duties and responsibilities outside of Baruch!
“Photography is a hobby of mine, I like to do creative things with design I always really like to craft, I like adult coloring books and I guess the main thing I do in my free time is to support my son, I have a freshman in high school,” she said. Outside of Baruch Grove is incredibly busy with supporting and spending time with her family, while also finding time to pick up on hobbies and interests she has.
In addition, she has a passion for the outdoors and hiking as she said, “Or if I could completely start over, I would like an outdoors oriented career.”
Her love for the outdoors started after her son was born. To balance out the fact he was being raised in the city, and he may not have as much exposure to nature and the outdoors, Grove’s family has made it their mission to go to as many national parks as they can. Her most recent hiking trip was what she would call a “trip of a lifetime” as she said “My family’s most recent trip was, I’d call it a trip of a lifetime. We went to Utah and did a 14-15 day hike to all of the national parks in Utah.”
From being a parent coordinator to the one responsible for students’ favorite school events like the Snowflake social, career day and field day, to being a mother, one could say Grove does all.
One piece of advice she has for all Baruch students, is to try everything, you don’t know what you want to do yet, and you have time to decide, so try everything and take great opportunities to experience what may be your new passion.
