The Citi Bike has become an everyday form of transportation on the busy streets of NYC, especially among the city’s active and lively student population. Students who commute between school, home and social hotspots have grown to rely on Citi Bike as an easy and efficient way to get around.
The recognizable blue and white bikes have become an inseparable part of these students’ daily lives thanks to their affordable subscription plans and easy accessibility, completely changing the way they get around the city and promoting a sustainable transportation culture. It costs $220 per year for unlimited rides on a typical bike, but there are also electric Citi Bikes which cost 20 cents per minute.
For senior Maciej Kawecki, the Citi Bike emerges as the undisputed hero in the quest for a perfect commute through the urban jungle. Kawecki said they’re especially convenient as there are bike docks scattered strategically throughout the city.
“There are bike docks all around NYC, and there is one right by our school as well as near my building. It is a calm and easy bike ride that I have been going on everyday for the past 3 years,” he said.
The freedom and flexibility that comes with a Citi Bike makes it the ultimate game-changer for Kawecki, shaping his daily routine into a dynamic adventure through the city streets.
In this vibrant city, where the morning rush is shaped by a crowd of bustling commuters, finding the ideal mode of transportation is essential for high school freshmen like Sebastian Ishak.
He said Citi Bikes are his go-to way to get around.
“I enjoy the experience of riding a Citi Bike, the train gets crowded and hectic in the mornings when everyone is rushing to work,” he said.
Junior Pietro Barricelli said Citi Bikes are an essential part of his overall lifestyle.
“Taking a Citi Bike isn’t only the best transportation for school,” he said, “I take a Citi Bike when going to hang out with my friends, or to play soccer, etc,” he said.
He appreciates the freedom to hop on a bike whenever he pleases, transforming routine commutes into spontaneous adventures.
